The voice recording is permanent; it will not be lost when the book's batteries are changed. The product makes an ideal gift for a child age 18 months and older from out-of-town relatives, a parent who is away from home frequently, or someone in the military assigned to a faraway land.
The story and illustrations relate reasons why you love a child, such as, "You have such a good, kind heart," and "Your laugh is one of my very favorite sounds." Record a Story: I Love You So Much is easy to set up. Follow these directions: - Turn to the page you wish to record.
- Press the RECORD button. Listen to the instructions. When you hear a beeping sound, read the words on the page.
- After you are finished reading the page, press STOP. You can re-record until you are satisfied with your recording. Repeat the process with the remaining pages of the book. You can also record a personalized message on the dedication page.
- Set the locking switch behind the screw-on plate to ensure that your recording won't be inadvertently erased.

 Does Not Record Every PageOct 02, 2011

After 5 tries to get every page to record, we gave up and sent this to our great granddaughter. You could record the next to last page and it was the recording for the next to the last page and the last page or visa versa. We tried holding the book differently (it is VERY fussy about how the pages lay!!) and re-recording in every conceivable sequence. Good luck with this one!

I bought this for my 1 year old daughter. she loves books and she stays with her grandma during the day while mom and dad work. So when she is at her grandmas we can still be there reading her a book even though were not there. She gets very excited to hear our voice.

I bought this for my granddaughter's 3rd birthday, and she absolutely loves it. My husband and I took turns reading the pages, and we used her name when reading it. She lives 2000 miles away from us, so it's nice for her to hear our voices. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the book is very sensitive, i.e., if it's not perfectly flat, the pages won't play correctly. Since this is for younger children, it would be nice if it were easier for her to hold on her lap and hear us read to her. There are not too many pages in the book - it looks like it has a lot more - but all in all, that's okay. It is VERY easy to figure out how to record, etc.
One helpful hint: if you have trouble with the book not recording as it should, try putting in some new batteries, then it should work fine.
If you want a great gift for your child or grandchild, this is wonderful! I am very impressed. (I've been told she's very impressed, too!)

"Do not buy this book". I am so terribly upset right now. I recorded every page yesterday and today wanted to add something ( a sweet closing message) to the last page and this book does not work. It gets stuck on the first page and won't go further. I have tried everything!! I bought this for my first and only Grandson who was 1 month old on Dec 19th. I was so excited to give this to my daughter as a keepsake that he will always have. I am so sad and upset that this book is worthless and how disappointed they will be when I explain what a wonderful book I thought this was.

I was very excited to see this book at one of my client's house and thought this would make a perfect Christmas present for my grand daughter who lives in another state. I was so very disappointed. I started recording following the enclosed directions. My recording got messed up so I followed the directions to make corrections.......then the book "went to pot"! I ended up deleting my voice and it reset to factory settings and still did not reset right! Did I not only waste my money on this one but two others as well. It is not worth the time or effort or money to contact seller and send back and wait for a refund......DO NOT BUY!
