After writing in the journal about a favorite holiday memory, a person can read the entry aloud and record it in his/her own voice. The voice recording is permanent; it will not be lost when the book's batteries are changed.
Each section of the journal has a recording opportunity for a favorite story or memory, as well as places for Christmas photos, Christmas wishes, Christmas recipes, family traditions, and personal thoughts. Holiday topics include: - Ready for the holidays

- The holiday table
- Christmas past
Recording a voice is easy. Follow these directions: - Choose a story to record.
- Press the RECORD button and the button with the corresponding illustration at the same time. Hold them down until you hear a beep, and then begin recording. There is 90 seconds of recording time per button.
- When finished recording, press RECORD again. Press the illustrated button to hear the recording. Re-record until you are satisfied with your recording. Repeat the process for each story.
- Set the locking switch behind the screw-on plate to ensure that your recording won't be inadvertently erased.

The book looks great, but on my book on 2 of the 5 buttons there is a harsh buzz after 30 seconds (suppose to record to 90 seconds. You can't hear any recordings during the buzz or after. Similar to a buzz you would hear on a game show when you get the answer wrong. Very disappointed.

I was trying to order a book to give our daughters in order to chronicle their Christmas memories as they begin their own families. I ordered this book and realized when it came that it is only for 1 year of memories. It is beautifully put together and if you just want to write about one Christmas, it would be perfect - but it is not a book that you can use for many years.
